If you ever wondered what kind of ideas Kolba Lab has supported, you would enjoy the upcoming Kolba Café event, which will feature Seeing Hands, one of the first social start-ups incubated at UNDP’s Social Innovations Lab.
Seeing hands is a massage salon, which employs people with sight disorders as massage therapists. This social venture is built around the idea that blind individuals have other senses that are stronger, like touch, and that this can be tapped into to create employment opportunities. Incubated through Kolba Lab’s human-centered design cycle, the project has now reached break-even as a social business. Not just a successful business case, Seeing Hands also represents a shift in development perception of what a disability project can look like.
When: June 26, Friday, 5pm – 6:30pm
Language: English and Armenian
Where: UN Conference Hall, Petros Adamyan 14
The event will include both storytelling and a demonstration/consulting by the massage therapist, nutritionist and the psychologist of the center.
Please join the event on June 26th, by registering at the Facebook Event.
