1. When and how can I submit my idea?
You should register at Kolba Lab’s website and after you receive an account activation link at the e-mail address you provide, you can post your idea.
Tip from the Kolba team: examine the competition announcement carefully and dig into the useful materials available on the website before applying for the challenge.
The deadline for applications is 28th February, 2015.
2. How can I edit my idea after I have submitted it to the website?
The “edit” button is not yet active on the website. Please send an e-mail to idea[at]kolba.am with “EDIT IDEA” in the subject line, indicating your account and necessary edits for your idea in the body of the mail.
3. Is there an alternative way to submit ideas if I don’t want to publish my idea on the website?
You can send your idea to idea[at]kolba.am indicating “IDEA SUBMISSION” in the subject line. Only the Kolba Lab team can access this e-mail address.
Tip from the Kolba team: public discussion of your idea on the website might inspire improvements to your idea or help you develop a better idea.
4. Who can apply?
Everyone. We accept ideas from individuals, commercial and social organizations, initiative groups, networks and anyone else interested in innovating for climate change early warning systems. No limits.
5. How many ideas can one submit?
The sky is the limit! Applicants are free to submit as many ideas as the muse inspires.
6. Who will be evaluating the ideas?
An international and local panel of judges will be invited to evaluate the ideas. You can read more about selection criteria on our website.
7. How can I get answers to my other questions before applying?
You can always message us on our Facebook page, write to us at idea[at]kolba.am or call us on +37460 530000 224 and +374 55 151678 (during working hours preferably). We will be happy to answer your questions.
8. When will I know if my idea is on the shortlist for the social innovation camp?
A shortlist ideas for further development at the social innovation camp will be published on our website by mid February.
But if your idea is not on the list, Kolba Lab may guide you to other relevant competitions or organizations.
9. What kind of support can I expect if my idea is shortlisted?
Applicants that make it to the social innovation camp receive:
· Support from mentors and specialists
· And if your idea is selected by the panel of judges at the camp, you will also receive:
o Access to design workshops with the Kolba team;
o Start-up finance and additional fundraising to help your venture reach scale and sustainability;
The social innovation camp will give you the necessary tools, guidance and support to test your idea.
10. What will be my role after the social innovation camp?
The applicants build teams and participate in the event, where the idea is developed into a prototype project, service or product.
Considering the specificities of each application received and the development of each idea, Kolba Lab and the applicant together decide what kind of involvement is efficient for each (the idea may become a civic initiative, a business, a government service or a development project).
