UNDP’s Kolba lab is launching an intense skill development course in the field of cloth manufacturing within the “Accelerating Women’s empowerment for economic resilience and renewal: post COVID-19 reboot in Armenia” project, funded by the UN COVID-19 Response and Recovery Multi-Partner Trust Fund.

In collaboration with the Shirak State Regional College seven-week sewing courses will be held in Gyumri in December-January to be conducted by invited industry professionals and local employers.

During the course the participants will learn:

– all stages of sewing production, from pattern drawing to packaging

– types of sewing machines and their exploitation

– foundations of the sewing production technology

– characteristics of fabrics and knitted garments production

 

By the completion of the course participants will be able to:

– make patterns and group

– sew various types of garments by means of different sewing machines

– check the quality of the manufactured products

– identify and eliminate product defects

– finalize, iron and package the manufactured products

The best graduates will be offered an internship or employment opportunity by teaching professionals and/or local employers. A maximum of 30 people can participate in the course.  The selection will be held on a competitive basis. Classes will be held at the Shirak Regional State College in December-January, twice a week.
