At Kolba Lab, the buzz around blockchain technology has given way to lively debate about how this technology can be used to address social challenges.
Blockchain technology is used in many different sectors around the world. For instance IBM in partnership with Wallmart is launching a new collaboration on using blockchain to improve food tracking and safety. This pilot program will give an opportunity to track each item and reduce risks on faking the products and falsifying information about expiration date and production. Through blockchain technology customers can see from which country the product was imported and how long it took to get to the shopfront.
Bitcoin is the first and one of the most discussed products built around the blockchain logic, though today many other cryptocurrencies are growing in demand and increasingly considered as “safe” investment opportunities. While there are many arguments on whether Bitcoin will stay or go, its underlying technology, blockchain, is consistently predicted to grow and grow.
We invite you to join a conversation with Hovhannes Kuloghlyan about how blockchain technology can be better integrated into social impact work. The talk is on December 21st, at UN Conference Hall, 18:00-19:30. The talk will be in Armenian.
